21 Sep 06 Sound Testing
A few notes about sound volume:
The decibel scale increases ten fold for every 10 decibels measured.
A 10-dB increase is perceived as roughly doubling loudness.
A rich fuel mix will create a much louder exhaust note than a properly tuned system.

19 Sep 06 Test Results, Stock FFR pipes, measured at a 90 degree angle to pipe outlet at 10 feet away, aprox waist high. Car stopped, no load. Dynomax Race Bullets and Car Chem Inserts, measured at a 90 degree angle to pipe outlet at 10 feet away, aprox waist high. Car stopped, no load.

Note: Engine running very rich.

Note: Engine running better, but not really tuned.
The results of our very unscientific test indicate approximately    decibel sound reduction. The car will get quieter once it is tuned properly.
A Radio Shack $40 sound level meter was used for all tests.
You can really hear the engine mechanical sounds now with these pipes. It is noticeably quieter at idle and cruising, but still very loud at WOT. The tone also changed to more of an open header roar.
