Completed
researching various donor options on eBay and locally.
None of the donor cars we could find at a reasonable
price were suitable for our replica for one
reason or another. We decided to go with a
pallet car parts kit from Cypress Auto in CA. The
pallet parts kits range in price from 3,200-3,400
for a mid mileage (1994-95) Mustang 302 engine,
5 speed transmission, and T-bird
rear for the independent suspension, plus all of
the other items in the FFR donor list. Shipping
to Huntsville AL is about $738.00. We should have
the parts in a few weeks. There are several advantages
to this route -- no donor car to locate, tear
down, and sell off afterwards, and all of the parts
carry a six month warranty.

Cypress Auto found us a donor. 95 Mustang, 302,
Auto 71,000 miles. They also have a 5sp manual
transmission on hand that will be freshened up with
new bearings and seals, a new clutch and shipped
to us.

Our
donor from Cypress arrives. All 1619 lbs. It does
not talk long to strip it down.

Stuff
in the crate. New meaning for "crate engine". |

The radiator
does not look too good. We planned on having the
radiator flushed and checked by a shop. Hopefully
they can repair it. |

The parts
are quickly stripped off. Nothing was tied down
or secured very well. |

The trans
and other parts look ok. |

It looks
like there are a few parts missing, we'll have to
call Cypress. |

|
|
The carcass
will get hauled off to the local dump.

The front
rotors were turned and cross drilled. |

This caliper
still has to be disassembled and redone. |

Some of
the parts drying after they were painted with POR-15.
The brake
calipers have also been painted with POR Hardnose
paint. Its a 2-part, chemical resistant paint.
Note: I have since switched over to the
Big brakes.
