Arrival

 27 Jan 2010

Much to our surprise, we received the wheels today via UPS - 3 weeks in advance of the car. Way to go FFR!

The Roadster frame dolly is getting reused.   In between FFRs,  it was used to hold the body of drag truck built by my son in law and later a jet ski, so this will be the 3rd car built on it. I tried some Harbor Freight wheels on it, but they did not roll very well.

The car arrived  ahead of schedule - it was scheduled to be here on the17th. Kudos to Scott and Stewart Transport, the weather in the south was terrible with many roads iced over and closed.  No pictures, it was snowing with 25 degree temperatures and  the roads were slick, so pictures were not high on our list.

I do have one picture to share, see it does snow in  Alabama, it was taken this morning in my backyard.

Body bucks, look gruesome, but work well.

Inventory

Much to my surprise, there were many parts backordered, fuel cell, heat and air, radiator, seats,  front LCAs, side pipes, shocks, the list goes on. I thought the number of boxes looked a little light for a complete kit. I only received half the car!  In the past FFR has always made good on the backorders, I just hope I don't have to wait too long.

22 Feb 2010 - Backordered fuel fell arrived, along with the seats, LCAs, and shocks

26 Feb - 2010 - Received backordered exhaust pipes, door frames, AC components, and hatch frame.

The body gets wiped down with fiberglass clearer to remove the mold release and the frame sprayed with rust preventative before starting any fabrication or assembly.

Frame on the dolly .
A very tight fit. The roadster is supposed to go on top, but this will have to do for now.

Next step - sway bars.
